Twice a year we produce our market report, which provides insights into the lateral hiring market with commentary and analysis of the key developments. The most recent report, looking back over the whole of 2025, tracked key statistics and trends including:
329 moves were tracked (331 in 2024) – 189 male (57%) and 140 female (43%).
70 firms were tracked, totalling 4,804 partners; 7% of the total Australian market moved in 2025.
Almost half of the moves (47.4%) took place in Sydney, up from 44% in 2024.
Corporate continues to be the practice area with most demand, accounting for 15% of the moves.
The mid-market continues to be the most attractive with 58% of moves.
